Everyone wants to look their best at a wedding, be it the couple, their family or friends. But is there a boundary that shouldn’t be crossed to avoid overshadowing the bride?
A mother has recently been criticized for her choice of dress at her daughter’s wedding.
A TikTok video showcased Lori DeWitt, 53, making her entrance in a green floral gown with a train and a plunging neckline. The dress was from Flora on Madison, a bridal store in New York.
In the TikTok video posted by wedding photographer @CapturedbyChloeCo, Lori confidently walks down the aisle in her elegant dress and poses alongside the bride.
However, the comment section was filled with mixed reactions about the mother’s dress choice. Some viewers felt she was stealing the spotlight from the bride on her special day.
One user commented: “Beautiful but definitely shadows the plain white dress.”
“Don’t get me wrong she does look stunning in that dress, but it’s a bit much on a day where her daughter’s dress should’ve been the star of the show, not saying she has to dress like an old frumpy lady,” another added.Someone else said: “Am I the only one who thinks the train isn’t appropriate?”
However, not everyone agreed with these sentiments. Some believed she had every right to wear whatever made her feel beautiful on her daughter’s wedding day.
One supporter wrote: “FINALLY a [mother-of-bride] dress that is not frumpy and disgusting looking! MOB Dresses need a drastic overhaul! This dress is stunning.”
“Stunning! I want my mom to shine like this on my wedding day,” another supporter chimed in.
